     The Ann M. Martin Foundation - Founded in 1990, the Foundation funds small, grassroots programs, or portions of programs that are hard to fund. The foundation is a generous donor to Heartwood.  Ann believes strongly in giving to organizations and in volunteering. "I talk to lots of kids, and know that many of them see problems in their neighborhoods, their communities, and the world," she says.      Appalachian Community Fund - The Appalachian Community Fund (ACF)  provides grants to groups promoting progressive change in the central region of Appalachia, including West Virginia. ACF was established to bring new resources into the region for community organizing and social change, ACF also seeks to build a long term resource base and to expand community philanthropy in the region. Grants are given to community-based organizations that address underlying causes of the economic and social distress of the region, and are targeted to organizations and communities with little or no access to other moneys. www.appalachiancommunityfund.org

       Ilene Evans - A Lights On! sponsored visiting artist, Ilene is a storyteller whose African, Celtic and Native American heritage enrich her stories, poems and music. Her work expands the imagination as she sings, speaks, and dances through performances which crisscross and bridge cultures.  Ilene has been telling her stories through dance, music and the spoken word for twenty-five years. Her home place at the headwaters of the Potomac on the West Virginia/Maryland border, has provided a wealthy and continuing source for her work. Her storytelling has emerged from the mountains and mingles the pathos, joy, and humanity of this joining of cultures.      Ira Bernstein - A friend of Heartwood, Ira has performed in concerts and at festivals all across the United States, as well as internationally.  He has shared the stage with many of the world's greatest tap and step dancers, including tap dancers Gregory Hines and Savion Glover. Ira is the director of the TEN TOE PERCUSSION ENSEMBLE, a collective of internationally acclaimed step dance soloists. www.irabernstein.com

     The Landmark Studio for the Arts a non-profit corporation, which promotes the Arts in Braxton County, West Virginia. The Landmark directs the visual and performing arts activities for the community and schools. It is located in a converted historic Victorian era church on Main Street in Sutton, West Virginia.      Mountain Stage a two-hour radio program featuring performances by today's hottest musicians, recorded live in West Virginia. Host Larry Groce is joined by the Mountain Stage Band; vocalist, Julie Adams; and keyboard artist, Bob Thompson.      The Ohio River Border Initiative - something new in the world of state arts programs. The Initiative is not an organization. It is not a government agency. ORBI is a creative way for the state arts agencies of West Virginia and Ohio to support the arts community in the Ohio River valley. ORBI's programs are open to artists, arts groups and community arts programs in all Ohio and West Virginia counties that touch the Ohio River. Since 1994, ORBI has awarded a total of $136,000 in grants. ORBI has the largest and most comprehensive arts database in the region. www.orbi.org
     The West Virginia Coalition Against Domestic Violence - committed to the elimination of personal and institutional violence against women, children, and men. By developing a strong network of shared resources and support, WVCADV provides safe space and quality service for victims of domestic violence, and works for systemic change to assure families' options for building lives free from violence.
